School will not be in session Monday, April 8th for the solar eclipse. As Pocahontas is in the direct pathway for totality, it is expected to attract nearly 20,000 visitors to our surrounding area. Due to the number of visitors, it was decided it was best to close school to minimize logistical challenges that the influx of travel would cause with school dismissal and bus routes.
School will resume on a regular schedule Tuesday, April 9th.
Additionally, in making this a non-school day, we will push back the last day of school to Tuesday, May 28th to meet the required 178 school days.
