Right now, our current high school building has three sets of stairs and is not ADA accessible. For students with disabilities, this creates barriers that make learning and daily routines much more difficult.
With the 2025 Millage Campaign, a new high school would provide modern, ADA-compliant facilities—ensuring every student has equal access to classrooms, resources, and opportunities.
Accessibility isn’t just a convenience; it’s a necessity. Together, we can create a school where all students can learn, grow, and succeed. ❤️🖤

Today, we celebrate our entire custodial team across Pocahontas School District. From early mornings to late evenings, these dedicated individuals work tirelessly to keep our buildings clean, safe, and welcoming for students, staff, and families.
Please join us in thanking:
Jason Moore – Pocahontas Elementary School
Hunter Roberts, Russell Evans, and Dennis Roush – M.D. Williams Middle School
Steven Hull and JT Pratt – Pocahontas Junior High School
Shane Pratt, James Dean, and Kim Lewis – Pocahontas High School
Rhyne Pratt - District Custodian

Our high school principal, Mr. Christian Helms, takes time out of his day to step into the classroom and provide math instruction during Redskin Time. ✨
We’re grateful for leaders who don’t just guide from the office but also jump in alongside students and teachers to support learning. ❤️🖤

Administrator, Craig Green, took time out of his day to encourage and play catch with a young student learning to throw a football. 🏈
It’s these simple acts of connection that remind us what education is all about—building relationships and supporting kids every step of the way. ❤️🖤

We’ll have an informational table set up at the October 3rd home football game at Schoonover Stadium to answer questions about the 2025 Millage Campaign.
Stop by to learn more about the proposal and what it means for our students and community. ❤️🖤

⭐️ Kate Kazzee & Libby Rawls are headed to STATE after finishing 2nd in conference!
💪 Noah Baltz battled hard in a tough singles bracket, finishing 4th.
The future is bright with this young team—stay tuned for state updates!

Our Senior Advisory Council recently met with Dr. Arbuckle and school administration for a powerful session of collaboration and conversation. What made this meeting so special? It was student-led—our seniors took the lead, shared their perspectives, and let their voices be heard.
We are proud of these student leaders for stepping up, engaging in meaningful dialogue, and helping shape the future of Redskin Nation. ❤️🖤

Not the best ending on a Friday afternoon, but thankfully all students have arrived home safely with only a minor delay.

Currently, 71% of Pocahontas students qualify for free or reduced-price meals. If we can reach 76%, our entire district will receive free meals for ALL students — no matter their household income — for the rest of the school year.
Even if you’re unsure whether you qualify, we encourage every family to complete the Free & Reduced Meal Application. There are many ways to qualify, and each application gets us closer to our goal.
Filling out the form benefits more than just your family — it supports every student in our district by unlocking additional funding for programs, technology, and resources.
⏱️ It only takes a few minutes — apply here: EZ Meal Application
