As we wrap up another great school year, we want to remind our families of a few important dates:

Last Day of School: Friday, May 22
First Day of School for Students (2026-2027): Wednesday, August 12

We’re looking forward to finishing the year strong and hope everyone enjoys a safe, fun, and well-deserved summer break. Thank you for another wonderful year at Pocahontas School District!

Our character trait for the month of May is Integrity. Today we had an assembly honoring those students nominated by their teachers as well as teachers nominated by their peers. Congratulations to all that were nominated!

Please be reminded that all student medications must be picked up from your child’s school building no later than 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 22.

Any medications not picked up by this deadline will be destroyed.

If you have questions, please contact your child’s school office or nurse. Thank you for your attention to this important reminder.

📅 2026–2027 School Calendar Update Pocahontas School District is excited to share an important update for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year calendar. In an effort to better support student learning and staff collaboration, a new schedule adjustment has been built into the calendar: On weeks with five full student contact days, students will be released early on Wednesdays at 1:45 PM. Clarification: If a week includes fewer than five student contact days (such as a four-day week or a week with a holiday), dismissal will follow the regular schedule. On full five-day student contact weeks, early dismissal at 1:45 PM will occur every Wednesday. Important Details: Students who require or utilize district-provided transportation will remain on campus until regular dismissal time. During this time, supervised academic opportunities and activities will be available for students. This adjustment is designed to provide dedicated time for meaningful academic support, enrichment opportunities for students, and professional collaboration among staff. We believe this addition will strengthen the overall educational experience for our students while supporting our staff in delivering the highest quality instruction. Our 3rd grade students recently kicked off ATLAS testing with a pep rally📣 We are proud of the effort they’ve put in to prepare and appreciate the focus they’ve shown so far. As testing continues, we encourage them to take their time, do their best, and stay confident in what they’ve learned. We’re cheering you on, 3rd grade!

The Redskin Legacy Walk is happening TOMORROW at 12:30 PM at Schoonover Stadium. We’ll be celebrating our Kindergarteners and Seniors—where it all begins and where it all comes full circle. 🎓 Come out and join us!
